What is the difference between a deep cleaning and a regular cleaning?

The terms "deep cleaning" and "regular cleaning" refer to different levels of cleaning intensity and thoroughness, typically applied to various spaces like homes, offices, or commercial establishments. The main differences between deep cleaning and regular cleaning lie in the scope, detail, and frequency of the tasks involved. Here's a breakdown of the distinctions:

Scope and Detail:

Regular Cleaning

Regular cleaning is a routine maintenance process that involves basic cleaning tasks to maintain cleanliness and tidiness of high traffic areas. It includes activities like dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and surface wiping in common areas.

Deep Cleaning

Deep cleaning is a more intensive and comprehensive cleaning process. It addresses areas and surfaces that are often overlooked during regular cleaning and removes dirt and grime that has been left to settle for a long period of time. This can include tasks such as hand degreasing/disinfecting/cleaning ornaments, picture frames, furniture, art, vents, blinds, behind appliances, inside cabinets, baseboards, light fixtures, and other areas that accumulate dirt and grime over time.

Frequency

Regular Cleaning: Regular cleaning is performed frequently and is typically part of a regular schedule, often weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly to maintain a baseline level of cleanliness.

Deep Cleaning: Deep cleaning is done less frequently and is more of a periodic or seasonal task. It is not part of the regular cleaning routine but is essential for tackling areas that require more attention. We perform deep cleaning on the first visit and seasonally from there. Deep cleans are also performed on a one off basis for move out/move in cleans or for post-construction cleaning projects.

Purpose

Regular Cleaning: The primary purpose of regular cleaning is to keep the space clean, presentable, and functional on a day-to-day basis. It helps prevent the buildup of dirt and grime but may not address deeply embedded or hard-to-reach dirt.

Deep Cleaning: Deep cleaning aims to eliminate accumulated dirt, dust, and grime that regular cleaning may not thoroughly address. It contributes to a healthier and more sanitized environment by reaching areas that are not part of the routine cleaning process.

Time and Effort Involved

Regular Cleaning: Regular cleaning tasks are generally quicker and less labor-intensive. They are designed to be efficient for more frequent use. Generally regular cleaning with 2 cleaners ranges from 1 hour to 4 hours depending on the size of the home. For larger homes (5000+ square feet) generally a regular clean will take 6-8 hours with 2 cleaners.

Deep Cleaning: Deep cleaning requires more time and effort due to the detailed nature of the tasks involved. It may involve moving furniture, taking apart certain fixtures, and engaging in more intensive scrubbing and cleaning. This generally is an all day project for homes of 2,000 square feet or larger. Generally for larger homes, a team of 4-6 is needed to complete a deep cleaning in one day.

Pricing

Regular Cleaning: a regular clean will take approximately half as much time as a deep clean. This means that regular cleaning will be considerably less than a deep clean. Generally a regular clean will range from $120 to $800 depending on the size of the home (800 square feet to 8,000 square feet). Generally most homes in the 1,200 square feet to 3,000 square feet range will be between $120 and $300.

Deep Cleaning: deep cleaning generally ranges from $180 to $2,800 depending on the size and complexity of the home. Certain homes will have objects that take more time and risk to clean such as windows, screens, chandeliers, vaulted ceilings, artificial foliage, or heavy dust in hard to reach area’s such as skylights and high ledges. This contributes to the price range. Generally most homes in the 1,200 square feet to 3,000 square feet range will be between $280 and $900.

In summary, regular cleaning is a routine maintenance practice that focuses on day-to-day cleanliness, while deep cleaning is a more thorough and less frequent process designed to address neglected areas and maintain a higher standard of hygiene. Both types of cleaning are essential for overall cleanliness and a healthy living or working environment.
